Game Time

I've said all along that elections often come down to the last four days including election day.

We're at that point now. While there's still room to persuade undecided last-minute voters especially those for whom the Iraq War is the major issue, much of the effort now shifts to get out the vote, or rather get out the caucus.

The Obama campaign has to concentrate on reminding and organizing those people who already support their candidate to arrive at their caucus locations on time at 6:30 pm, Thursday, Jan. 3. If they get there late, they will not be able to participate.

Obviously with a lot of young, first-timers supporting Obama this can be a challenge, but the big crowds showing up at Barack's events are a good sign. Indeed many Iowa veterans consider the size of crowds at stumping stops during this phase of the campaign more reliable than opinion polls.

Last night, about 1,000 people showed up at Obama's Stand for Change stop in Des Moines.

Early States Election Schedule

Iowa Caucus -- Jan. 3

New Hampshire Primary -- Jan. 8

Nevada Caucus -- Jan. 19

South Carolina Primary -- Jan. 26

Super Tuesday -- Feb. 5
