Clinton to be named Secretary of State after Thanksgiving

According to an anonymous Obama transition aide, the president-elect will nominate Sen. Hillary Clinton for secretary of state after the Nov. 27 Thanksgiving holiday.

Such leaks from the Obama team were rare during the campaign process, but are now common with the transition probably as a means of airing out possible Obama choices.

Should Clinton accept, which seems likely for a number of reasons including husband Bill's willingness to be vetted, she would become the third woman to hold the post. Madeline Albright, who served under Bill Clinton, and current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, are the first two women to serve as secretaries of state.
