Polls conducted after the meeting showed that MoveOn.org members favored Barack Obama among all the candidates as the best candidate to deal with this issue.
MoveOn.org did make much fanfare over the poll results. In fact, in the archived page for the town hall meeting the poll is not even mentioned nor can you find the poll results. Edwards audio tape and picture are at the top of that page "above the fold" as they say, while Barack Obama is all the way at the bottom of the page.
For the latest MoveOn.org town hall meeting, little notice was given. In fact, I was first reminded of the event on the barackobama.com blog. The email told me to examine the positions of the candidates and then vote.
Edwards won this poll and now MoveOn.org has decided to run paid newspaper ads trumpeting the poll results in the early caucus and primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire. The obvious aim here is to influence the primary election results.
Very disappointing behavior from an organization that advertises itself as "progressive." No wonder so many people that I know who supported that group when it first started have grown disenchanted and believe MoveOn.org is practicing "politics as usual."
