The present long-term budget plan could have an important impact on the 2012 elections for president and for Congress.
Voters will be able to get an idea of where each political party stands from the 10 year budgets crafted by President Obama for the Democrats and Rep. Paul Ryan for the Republicans.
For example, the GOP could lose support from senior citizens due to the suggested cuts in Medicare and Medicaid.
Obama is retuning to suggestions for a end to tax breaks for wealthy Americans and to tax loopholes for the rich and for corporations. That possibly could lose him support among richer voters and among the pro-business independents.
Of course, we still must wait and see how the budget plans of each side change as negotiations progress.
