Does Obama favor Kagan for Supreme Court?

According to widely published reports in the press, President Barack Obama is favoring Solicitor General Elena Kagan to replace Justice John Paul Stevens on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Kagan has already been approved by the Senate for her current position, so many analysts believe that she should make it through the confirmation process without much trouble.

The Obama administration, though, has not indicated that the president has made a decision yet. Other possible nominees considered as favorites for selection by Obama are federal appellate judges Diane Wood and Merrick Garland .
