Obama unveils new heathcare proposal

President Barack Obama revealed a compromise healthcare reform package ahead of a bipartisan summit.

The new plan has programs that are all fully funded.

There will also be an agency that will monitor insurance companies to make sure they do not unfairly hike prices. The new proposal drops the Stupak amendment to the House bill that would prevent funding for abortions in any new healthcare program. A public option was also not included in the new package.

Obama hopes that he can reach a compromise with Republicans, but there are reports that they will push through the new proposal without bipartisan support if necessary.
