Poll: Obama is America's most admired man

President Barack Obama got some good polling news for a change after a spate of disappointing surveys for the administration and the ruling party.

A USA Today/Gallup poll found that the president was the most admired man in America, while his secretary of state Hillary Clinton was the most admired woman.
    Most Admired Man, 2009
  • Barack Obama - 30%
  • George W. Bush - 4%
  • Nelson Mandela - 3%
  • Pope Benedict XVI - 2%
  • Billy Graham - 2%
  • Bill Gates - 2%
  • Glenn Beck - 2%

Most Admired Woman, 2009

  • Hillary Clinton - 16%
  • Sarah Palin - 15%
  • Oprah Winfrey - 8%
  • Michelle Obama - 7%
  • Queen Elizabeth - 2%
  • Condoleezza Rice - 2%
  • Elin Nordegren Woods - 1%
  • Margaret Thatcher - 1%
  • Angela Merkel - 1%
  • Maya Angelou - 1%

Sort of strange to see George W. Bush and Sarah Palin in second place for most admired man and woman respectively.

Palin gives Clinton a run for her money, but Obama is by far the most admired among men.

First Lady Michelle Obama was the fourth most admired woman behind Oprah Winfrey.
