First lady Michelle Obama joined the fight for Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor on Wednesday as part of an effort to counter Republican opposition to President Barack Obama's pick to replace Justice David Souter.
Mrs. Obama told students at a high school graduation that after reading the story of Sotomayor, that she is "more than ready" for the new position.
Sotomayor like Obama is a graduate of Princeton University, and went on to Yale University Law School. She was at the top of her class at both schools. Mrs. Obama, who graduated from Harvard Law School, said that she identified with Sotomayor's story of her struggles as one of the few Latinas at Princeton and Yale.
