Obama to be first president to use Blackberry, email

President Barack Obama does not have to give up his Blackberry email device after all.

"The President has a BlackBerry through a compromise that allows him to stay in touch with senior staff and a small group of personal friends in a way that use will be limited," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said on Thursday.

Obama's staff had thought that the email device was not secure enough and would subject the president to extra scrutiny. All presidential emails are public record and neither Bill Clinton or George W. Bush used email for official business.

The Blackberry, made by Research In Motion Ltd, is more portable than a laptop and allows the user to receive and send email messages.

Finally, an easy way to answer the question "Did you ever think you'd live to see a Black President?"
