Paul --
I'm here on the ground in Iowa with Barack, our daughters, his sisters, and thousands of supporters and volunteers.
The energy is contagious, and we all have the sense that we're on the verge of something incredible.
We're seeing crowds two or three times the size our opponents are attracting. We're bringing new people into the process and bringing back some of those who are fed up with politics-as-usual.
And no matter where you are, you can make a dramatic statement that could shake this race up over the next few days before the caucuses on January 3rd.
At midnight tonight, the staff will shut the books on the 4th quarter and report just how much financial support we've received from people across the country.
The news will shape this race heading into the Iowa caucuses on Thursday.
Each one of these financial reporting periods has been an important moment for our movement -- each report has shown in black and white that this is a different kind of campaign, funded by an unprecedented number of people.
Thank you for your support. We would not be in the position we are today if it were not for you. I know you have already done so much, but I need to ask you to do more.
If you make a donation today, it will be matched by a first-time donor. You'll double your impact by encouraging someone else to own a piece of this campaign. And that's what this is all about, bringing people together, recognizing that there's so much more that unites us than divides.
Make a matched donation of $25 and help a new supporter be a part of this historic moment:
https://donate.barackobama.com/promiseWe started this campaign back in February, which seems like a lifetime ago.
But the Iowa caucuses this Thursday are just the beginning.
Unfortunately, our opponents are still playing the same old Washington games and benefiting from millions of dollars pouring into Iowa from outside groups. These "independent" organizations are running attack ads and sending mailings that distort Barack's record.
From the beginning, we have refused to play this game.
We're determined to win by doing this the right way.
Our campaign is built on the support of ordinary people giving only what they can afford. We've never taken money from Washington lobbyists or PACs. Instead, we've put our faith in you, and you've built a grassroots movement of nearly 500,000 individual donors.
That's the equivalent of 1 out of every 300 registered voters in the country giving $5 or more to our campaign.
You can be part of this historic effort and set the stage for Iowa by making a donation before midnight tonight. We need your help to create the momentum that will carry our movement through these crucial early contests and to the nomination.
Donate $25 today and it will be matched by another supporter:
https://donate.barackobama.com/promiseWhen Iowans walk into their local precincts this Thursday, they'll be representing you and every other supporter across the country.
Let them know just how many of us are behind them -- show them they are far from alone.
Thank you, and Happy New Year from our family to yours,
Michelle
