Obama's books fuel campaign

A USA Today article by Carol Memmot asks whether Barack Obama's hot book sales helped him in deciding to run (or at least form an exploratory committee).

Obama's second book The Audacity of Hope and his first book Dreams of my Father have not only enjoyed healthy sales but have drawn rock star-like crowds to book signings. It would come as no surprise that many of his fans took the opportunity of encouraging Obama to run during personal encouters at the signing events.

Barack Obama's books The Audacity of Hope and Dreams of my Father are ranked 7th and 32nd respectively in amazon.com sales.

On the fundraising front, according to various press reports, the Obama camp is starting to pull in lots of financial support, and experts like Jan Baran and Robert Bauer don't see the senator having any problem raising the cash needed to get his message out.
