Trending Topics and Searches on Election Day

Polls are already open in many parts of the country. 

For those on Twitter, several election-related topics are currently trending including #govote, #electionday, "Election Night" and "Democratic Party."   The Washington Post is also sponsoring the topic #election.

On Google, hot searches are related to people apparently trying to find out where to vote.  The only hot topic in the top 10 is "California elections."











Note that these states allow voter registration on Election Day: Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Wyoming and Washington DC.
