Obama may compromise on carbon trading

The White House is ready to battle global warming -- a change from the previous administration -- but he may be willing to compromise in some cases.

Some businesses may be able to get emission allowances free bypassing the carbon trading system.

The Obama administration is also looking to fight climate change by cooling air according to science adviser John Holdren.

Known as geoengineering, the idea involves shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun's rays.

Using such an experimental measure is only being thought of as a last resort, Holdren said.

"It's got to be looked at. We don't have the luxury ... of ruling any approach off the table."
