Obama to name Cabinet members, take vacation

President-elect Barack Obama is set to name Rod Kirk as U.S. trade representative and Ray LaHood as transportation secretary at a press conference Friday in Chicago.

Obama will leave Saturday for a holiday vacation in Hawai'i where his sister Maya and her family live.

The president-elect may also announce other undisclosed choices today.

Rod Kirk is the mayor of Dallas, while LaHood is a Republican who served in the House of Representatives for 14 years. LaHood is the second Republican nominated for Obama's Cabinet.

Yesterday, Obama appointed Rep. Hilda Solis of California as labor secretary.

Recently, Obama has been very active in the press holding daily news conferences. Although he has said previously that there is only one president at a time, the media is now appears focused on his moves more than those of outgoing president, George W. Bush.
