Barack Obama Passes on Public Financing

You may have heard already that the Obama campaign has decided to pass up public financing for the general election.

Barack attempted to negotiate a deal with John McCain on the issue, but without satisfactory results. The Republican National Committee has raised much more money than its Democratic counterpart, and these funds include money from special interest groups. Also, apparently no terms could be reached on the problem of the 527 PACs, which campaign independently from the candidate, for example, the "Swift Boat" group from John Kerry's presidential bid.
