Sen. Barack Obama is announcing new money guidelines for the Democratic National Committee, his camp revealed today.
The DNC will no longer accept money from political action committees (PACs) or federal lobbyists in accordance with Obama's own campaign standards.
“We want the Democratic Party to conform to his standards of openness to reduce the influence of special interests,” campaign spokeswoman Linda Douglass said today.
Barack is still mulling over whether to accept public financing for the general election campaign. His opponent John McCain challenged Obama to run his campaign with public funds well aware of Barack's fundraising prowess.
Accepting public funds would free the Obama campaign from fundraising duties, although most of Barack's money now comes from online donations. This allows him to stay on the campaign trail rather than spend time attending fundraisers.
