Varied endorsements for Barack Obama

Sen. Barack Obama is receiving support from across the diverse spectrum of the nation. Doreen Yellow Bird, a Native American columnist backs the Illinois senator's candidacy:

Finally, a woman or a black person may be president. I like them both; however, Barack Obama is my choice. Hillary Clinton does have her forces and will be hard to beat, however. And that will be a story for the year to come. Time to stoke the fire and start a new kettle of events for 2008.

LGBT advocate Dr. Jerry L. Cade, who is co-founder and co-medical director of Nevada AIDS Research supports Obama.

For many reasons, I believe that the best hope for the LGBT and HIV/AIDS communities is Senator Barack Obama. In fact, the best hope for this country and the planet is Senator Barack Obama.

[...]

Fighting HIV/AIDS needs forethought, leadership, and courage. We need a president who is willing to take the lead in AIDS prevention and treatment. We cannot wait for someone to come around to supporting an issue once everyone else is already there. We need a creative, visionary leader who will implement whatever changes are needed to prevent further HIV infection. We need Senator Obama.

Script writer, speech writer and Huffington Post columnist Matt Littman writes:

Ask yourself this:

Of the current candidates on both sides of the aisle, which candidate would make you proudest if they were to become President of the United States?

Which candidate would best help us turn the page on the political wars of the last 28 years?

Which candidate would best put the Bush years behind us and begin a new era?

Which candidate will have an open government, and not hold secret meetings with the energy titans, with the pharmaceutical companies, or with the health care lobbyists?

Which candidate has the confidence and the will to end the era of torture and spying on American citizens?

Which candidate will speak to our better nature?

When you consider these issues, and weigh the candidates remaining on both the Democratic and Republican sides, there really is no choice, is there? Barack Obama is the best candidate to bring about the changes that we need.
