John Kerry to endorse Barack Obama in South Carolina

The Politico reports that Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the 2004 presidential nominee, will endorse Sen. Barack Obama today.

According to CNN, Kerry will announce his support at a rally today in South Carolina.

Kerry's endorsement could help Obama pick up more superdelegate support who hold votes at the Democratic Convention were the nominee is chosen. These superdelegates are not bound by the voting during the primary election.

Kerry's endorsement could also help significantly in the state of Massachusetts where Gov. Deval Patrick is also supporting Obama.

Campaign manager David Plouffe said yesterday that a number of superdelegates are expected to announce their support for Obama in the coming days.

Plouffe also mentioned that in the eight days since the start of the new year, the Obama campaign has raised $8 million, or an average of $1 million a day. And money has been flooding in, much of it from online grassroots supporters, since the New Hampshire primary.
