Five Top Social Networking Tips

Here are my five top social networking tips to support Barack Obama's run for president.

  1. If you haven't already, create an Obama-friendly webpage on one of the social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, BlackPlanet, Migente, AsianAvenue, etc. You can download images and widgets to spruce up your site here. On Facebook, use the Obama application.

  2. Add Barack Obama as a friend. Here are the links for a number of sites:

    Facebook Flickr
    MySpace LinkedIn
    YouTube Register to Vote
    BlackPlanet ObamaMobile

  3. Sites like Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn (non-web), BlackPlanet and Migente allow you to find, add and invite friends and contacts using your web email address book, or a contacts file created by exporting your address book to a CSV or similar file. Click on the hypertext link for each site to use this feature. For MySpace, click on "Invite" located on the menu bar.
  4. Some of the sites allow you to find friends and contacts using your instant messenger or searching your high school, college or workplace network.
  5. Post an occasional news item, blog or other update on your page to let people know what is happening in the campaign.
