According to Sal Rosselli of United Health Workers, the 650,000 strong Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in California will endorse Barack Obama on Friday. The union had previously backed John Edwards.
Another union from the Edwards camp, the Transport Workers Union with 200,000 members, is also expected to endorse Obama on Friday.
Two unions backing Edwards, United Steelworkers and the United Mine Workers along with the AFL-CIO are expected to wait until a clear front-runner emerges before endorsing a candidate.
