All Quiet on Obama Front

According to The New Republic blog, the Obama camp is far from scared of the polls showing Hillary Clinton dominating against a field of hapless wannabes.

Iowa, they say, Iowa is the key.

The early states leading up to South Carolina will be a battle for the progressive camp regardless even if Hillary wins many of these early states.

At some point, probably either Barack Obama or John Edwards, with Bill Richardson having an outside shot, will emerge as the heir apparent.

When and if this happens, the winner will likely start siphoning votes from the other practical progressives very fast.

Then there's that big jello-like glob of voters who don't decide on a candidate until the last minute. They are usually deeply impressed in their thinking by the performance of the candidates in the early states.

Now, losing Iowa alone will not likely sink Hillary's experienced team. However, Obama's handlers believe it could be the start of a multi-stage process leading to her defeat. At the very least, Iowa can set the stage for narrowing down the field to two viable candidates.
