Obama offers $80 billion tax fairness plan

Seeking to reverse the Republican plan of tax relief for the wealthy, Barack Obama unveiled a new plan that would cut $80 billion in taxes for the middle class and poor.

His "tax fairness" plan would make up the difference by closing corporate tax loopholes.

Obama will dump income taxes for 7 million senior citizens making less than $50,000 a year, establish a universal credit for 10 million homeowners who do not itemize deductions, and providing 150 million Americans with tax relief of up to $1,000.

The new plan will also seek to simplify the filing process with a new "five-minute" form.
