While Obama opponents may say crowds do not win elections, certainly they would also rather have similar shows of support for their own favored candidate.
If Obama can mobilize these crowds not only to give money but to donate time in volunteering substantial hours to the campaign, they can surely make a great difference. This has been demonstrated many times in the past in well-run grassroots efforts.
