Barack wins Howard County straw poll

Senator Barack Obama narrowly defeated fellow Sen. Hillary Clinton in a Howard County, Maryland straw poll of active Democrats.

The poll was conducted at the annual Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner Thursday. Obama got 65 votes to Clinton's 61 and 56 for former Sen. John Edwards.

Last night, Obama attended big fundraisers by hedge fund mogul Paul Tudor Jones II and Allan Houston, the highest paid player in New York Knicks history.

The Houston dinner attracted about 150 people with tickets ranging from $1,000 to $2,300. The Jones fundraiser had 300 guests paying a minimum of $2,300.
