Barack a hit in KC, sister launches official Hawai'i campaign

Barack Obama fired up a crowd of 3,000 supporters in Kansas City yesterday urging them to pressure at least 16 senators into overriding the Iraq War veto.

He also called on Democrats to help elect a veto-proof Congress in 2008.

Also yesterday, Illinois Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. addressed Black Democrats at the Alabama State Convention calling Obama's possible election "the most significant event in the history of the U.S." Jackson formally endorsed Obama during that speech.

Barack's sister steps up campaign efforts

Maya Soetoro-Ng, Barack Obama's sister in Hawai'i, appeared at Kawananakoa Middle School Saturday morning officially launching the independent statewide effort for the senator.

A message from Obama said that Hawai'i offered "a fabulous model for the kind of America I hope this campaign will bring about."

Barack will make a traditional visit to Hawai'i during the winter when his supporters will plan to organize a campaign rally.
