'O'bama' energizes crowd at GMU

In an obvious attempt to fight for media coverage, Hillary Rodham Clinton said she will make her first campaign stop in New Hampshire on the day (Feb. 10) Barack Obama is scheduled to announce he will run for president.

Obama was at George Mason University today speaking before hundreds of fired-up students chanting "Yes, we can!" The candidate recounted his humble past including working as a $13,000 year community organizer in Chicago.

There has been some talk as to whether a candidate from the Midwest can win the presidency. In the last presidential election, Ohio and Michigan figured as key swing states. When the Democrats swept into Congress last year, Ohio went solidly against the Republicans. It probably will be a key state in 2008. Nevada may also turn out to be a very important state to win to clinch the presidency.

Elsewhere, to counteract the wordplay of Obama-Osama used by conservatives, t-shirt makers on amazon.com have come up with a "Barack O'bama" shirt giving the candidate's name a Celtic touch.
